Boys Locker Room Controversy: Shahid Kapoor’s Wife Mira Rajput Expresses ANGST, ‘Start Teaching Your Sons Consent, Gender Equality’
While the entire country battles with the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, a new controversy called Boys Locker Room or Bois Locker Room took the internet by storm recently. It all happened after a couple of explicit screenshots from an Instagram group of Delhi-based schoolboys made it to social media. In the pictures, all the accusers could be seen slut-shaming, sharing jokes on rape and exchanging nude pictures of women, some underage. This fiasco has enraged a lot of people, including celebrities, who have been sharing their disappointment on social media.

After Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhasker, Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput has shared her anger on this issue and asked all the women to teach their boys some basic etiquette like consent and gender equality. A long post shared by Mira on her Instagram read, “So, if you're raising a boy in India, consider this a plea. Our lives are in your hands. Instead of our parents teaching us caution, start teaching your sons consent. Instead our parents teaching us fear, start teaching your sons respect. Teach your sons about gender equality. Teach your sons what ‘No’ means.”

It continued, "Teach your sons that they aren't entitled to any woman's body, attention or time. Instead of our parents teaching us modesty, teach your sons about personal space. Instead of our parents teach us to avert gazes, teach your sons not to stare. Teach your sons about healthy masculinity, healthy romance and healthy sexual relationships."

Take a look:

“Teach your sons how to express emotion. That violence is not an option. That nobody, no matter what they are wearing or drinking, 'deserves' or 'asks for' it. Instead of our parents teaching us to be wary of men, raise your sons to be men who don't need to be feared. Instead of our parents teaching us how to avoid assault, teach your sons that it is unforgivable to assault women. Instead of our parents teaching us how to navigate an untrustworthy world, teach your sons to change it,” concluded the post. (ALSO READ -Boys Locker Room: Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker And Mallika Dua Speak Against The Controversy; Netizens Ask What About Girls Locker Room?)
